Being a mother was a difficult task when you have children with no instructions. You stumble through learning how to interpret sounds, grunts and cries until you know what your child wants and needs at any given time. After have 4 children, I finally got it 50% right as each child brought to my life a new dimension to motherhood. They have all grown up and started families of there own and given me the opportunity to be a grand-mother for which I am proud to have that honor. With 10 grandchildren on my apron strings I am in heaven. Today I learned that my grandson, age 5, has autism. It's a different type of world for him and a different world for me. Today I am trying to find ways to understand this phenomenon and to understand him. I am a hugger and a kisser. I love to hold and cuddle my grandchildren but with him, that's not an option. I felt pushed away until I learned that I am intruding in his world and I have to be invited in. I have to gain his trust and walk softly in his world. I have to learn to interpret his hand gestures and his broken speech. So today i am learning a new way to be a grandmother to my grandson. I am hoping that you will help me raise money for Autism throught Easter Seals.. I am learning that our family is not alone in this and I hope to network with other families who are learning and living with the wonders of the world of Autism.
May Allah (God) lessen your worldly stress and pain and grant you peace.
Peace
