Losing Farrah and Michael

Today is a somber day. Coming of age in the sixties (60s) I grew up watching Charlies' Angels with Farrah Faucett and watching her marry the Six Million Dollar Man (Lee Majors), enjoying reading magazines that put her smile on the covers.

I remember watching the Jackson 5 on Ed Sullivan and was lucky enough to have seen live concerts featuring Michael Jackson and his brothers. My daughter, who was a member of the Boys and Girls Club, went to a concert here in Philly at the Civic Center and Michael kissed her hand. You couldn't get her to wash that hand.
While some might say that they were "stars" and nothing more, I disagree. These were people who helped move me through my childhood. I danced to all the music, I almost wore my hair like Farrah's. I remember waiting for Thriller to come be released and to watch the first real music videos. I remember learning how to do the "beat it" steps and who didn't enjoy "Billy Jean". My prayers are extended to Ryan and Redmon on their loss and to the Jackson family. When you watch people grow up with you, they feel like family too you. Take a moment to remember where you were when Farrah became an Angel and Michael did the "moonwalk".

Peace...
